Team SK - Paul
NAME : Paul George AGE :47 OCCUPATION : Gym Owner SPORTING HISTORY : Rugby League, football, athletics, karate, archery and finally found my niche in bodybuilding. PERSONAL GOALS AND ULTMATE AMBTION : I'd like to be able to compete in my 50's TITLES : I have over 20 national titles and 5 world titles competing with various federations. I won the British UKBFF Overall title in 2004 and went on to place 8th at the British Grand Prix. As a pro I have competed with IFBB, NABBA and UPBF and independent shows. MY WEEKLY TRAINNIG PLAN IN SEASON : When getting ready for a competition I pretty much keep the same split that I would off season but I do a lot more cable and dumbbell work. I also only ever train my abs coming into a show. MY WEEKLY TRAINING PLAN OFF SEASON : At present I'm doing a 4 day split comprising of a combination of heavy basics and moderate weight super and giant sets.
Rep range varies from 5 – 15 reps. I very rarely do the same workout week to week and often don't know what exercises we are going to do until we get started. I like to try different things and am always looking for new ways to stimulate the muscles although the foundations will remain constant and basic. HIGHLIGHTS AND PROUDEST MOMENT TO DATE : Competing against Ronnie Coleman in the 2004 British Grand Prix
MY DIET MOST OF THE YEAR ROUND: I eat pretty clean all year round although for the past few months I've had to make some changes in order to get more calories in. I am not a big eater and don't have a huge appetite so eating enough is actually my biggest downfall. Being good at dieting is a double edged sword for me. I am VERY good at dieting and don't really have a problem with restrictive eating. I am not good at stuffing myself, I don't like junk and I don't like the feeling when I've over eaten. I don't eat processed food, everything will freshly made. My staple diet remains the same, chicken, eggs, steak, fish for my main protein sources and protein powders and rice, wholemeal bread, oats, shredded wheat and noodles for carbs. I get my fats from various sources including nuts, nut oils & oily fish. Off season to increase my calories I add more oils and things like malt bread and butter, whole eggs and bacon butties! BEST BODY PART AND WHY : I suppose I am mainly known for my symmetry and condition when I compete. I have a balanced physique with no real overpowering body parts. WORST BODY PART AND WHY : Like everyone else I am always trying to improve on what I have. I don't have the biggest arms in the world but if I could change anything it would be to put on a well distributed 10 – 15lb of lean muscle. This may not seem a lot but on my 5ft3 frame it would make a massive difference. MOST ENJOYABLE EXERCISE : Deadlifts and squats are probably my strong point. I also have a lot of stamina for heavy and moderate supersets and giant sets and have found that they work well for me. LEAST ENJOYABLE EXERCISE : I don't have one.
INTEREST/HOBBIES/ FAVOURITE PAST TIME : I like watching live bands but not arena style concerts. I've got a huge CD collection and listen to a whole variety of music including, classical, rock, bluegrass and indie. I'm not a fan of rap or jazz. I read a lot, novels and comics. I like eating out and enjoy good food. I'm not a big or regular drinker but I do enjoy a nice brandy every now and again. I like sci-fi and weird and wonderful stuff. FAVOURITE MEAL : For a treat I will always go for a stodgy pudding type of thing with ice cream. BENEFITS OF BEING SPONSORED BY SK SPORTS : I have known Samir for nearly 20 years and I don't just see him and Tracey as my sponsors but also as good friends who have supported me for many years. Sam and myself both started out as small fry but our dedication and hard work paid off for both of us, I had a successful bodybuilding career and Sam built a very reputable supplement company. I'd like to think that both parties have benefited from a long standing partnership. SK Sports have developed an extensive range of their own supplements that cover every aspect of training. |
